MATT VERTA-RAY INTERVIEW (2006)

Thinking it could only be a dream, I wanted to interview Jon Spencer (JSBX) since he was one of my favourite musicians. So, I reached out to Jim Waters again and he connected us. I was aware Heavy Trash was playing in a city close by so I contacted Jon after I had sent him a demo of my work. He called me and agreed to the interview and offered up and interview with Matt Verta-Ray at the same time!

Matt Verta-Ray is a musician and owner/operator of NY HED Studios, a premier analog recording studio in New York City. With a career spanning over four decades, Verta-Ray has been a fixture on the NYC music scene, playing guitar and contributing to various bands such as Madder Rose, Speedball Baby, and Heavy Trash.

NY HED Studios is a classic recording studio that combines vintage analog gear with modern digital technologies. The studio’s equipment, collected over decades, and experienced engineers create an ideal environment for creativity and capturing the “magic” in music.
