SOLEX INTERVIEW (2004)
Solex aka Elisabeth Esselink I found Solex through Tape op Magazine and after listening to her recordings, I was interested in meeting her in Amsterdam.
So, after meeting with John Parish in England, I headed over to Amsterdam to her interview her in her basement studio below her record shop.
She is known for her eclectic and playful music, blending indie rock, electronica, and sampling. Esselink began her music journey as a member of the new wave band Sonetic Vet, before transitioning to her solo project Solex. She drew inspiration from her own record store in Amsterdam, where she would often sample and rework tracks from obscure and unwanted vinyl records. Solex’s music has been praised for its innovative approach to sampling and her ability to craft infectious, pop-infused melodies.
Her unique sound has earned her a dedicated following and critical acclaim within the indie music scene.
